Gurit’s CBS product is an advanced carbon composite material that uses the award winning PAtented SPRINT® materials, to produce Class-A body panels.

CBS uses a unique composite structure for car body panels. The combination of two layers of SPRINT® fibre reinforcement, one above and one below a syntactic resin core, results in stiffness proPErties similar to those of an I-beam. While CBS panels match the stiffness of typical steel or aluminium body panels, they minimize the needed layers of carbon fibre reinforcement, reducing both mass and cost of the component.

The final layer of CBS is Gurit’s in-mould primer layer; this layer enables CBS to far exceed the surface quality of standard composite materials neutralising fibre read-though and providing an excellent surface for paint.

With Gurit’s leading knowledge in composite formulation and by working with paint experts DUPont, Gurit’s CBS is able to achieve superb painted results normally only found in metallic panels, while also having environmental resistance that far exceeds traditional composite panels.
 

THERE ARE THREE CBS PRODUCTS:
CBS 96 -
This is Gurit’s Class-A carbon composite body material; optimised for low-bake paint systems and is ideal for low volume vehicles and special derivatives.

CBS Superlite - This product is a lighter weight variant of CBS96, and is ideal for non-Class-A aPPlications such as assembly inners or track vehicles.

CBS 200 - This is Gurit’s latest product that offers all of the weight and Class-A benefits of the low bake variant whilst being high-bake/online compatible. This means that the body panel can be assembled to the shell then run though the KTL process, as it is resistant to the high temperatures during E-Coat.
